Match Report

Fears of a backlash after last year's impressive victory were allayed by the appearance of a very young Orpington side. They were however an energetic and talented young side who bowled and fielded well to limit Crusaders to 179 from 40 overs. Spud's quick fire 24 supplemented a typically brusque 65 from the Oz and a more watchful 46 from Wajih. The match hung in the balance for much of Orpington's response, until an exceptional run out from Slack got rid of their free scoring opener. This allowed us to wrest the initiative, with Wajih and The Oz bowling particularly well to stem the flow of runs. Orpington opted for batting practise, rather than be bowled out, which was a little disappointing considering there was no option of a draw.
