Match Report
A club record opening partnership of132 between Steve Lewis (75) and Glen Timms (79) appeared to have set Crusaders well on the way to a commanding total. In reality the declaration at 175-3 proved far too generous, with Gateway showing that the track was very batsman friendly, knocking off the target with five overs to spare.
A superb tea served up by a stunning young lady was one of few bright spots, as Captain Charisma was forced to eat humble pie amid the first signs of mutiny. Bill was convinced that Gateway was never seriously chasing the target, despite the ease with which they accumulated their runs. The Sun headline ‘Go now Turniphead’ imploring Graham Taylor to vacate the England managers job could just as easily be directed at Webb.
