Match Report

Sunday 7 July -v- Northdowns at Chislehurst
Once again Daz put his danglers on the line, taking the captaincy reins from Spud who was on godfathering duty at baby Darth's christening. Late cry offs left us with a mere nine with which to take on the might of Northdowns, but what a nine. Fortunately the oppo were no more flushed for players, so it promised to be a short game. The reputation of our wily seam quartet had obviously not reached the outback of Sevenoaks, as Northdowns foolishly elected to bat. All too soon Daz and Fats had tied down the openers and whittled out the first three for twenty runs. There was to be no let up from a rampant attack, with the introduction of Nath and Warren, only serving to accelerate Northdown’s demise. Some respite was given through two overs from Darkie, but by then it was too little too late and Northdowns were dismissed for 78. Our response was little more convincing and only a season’s best 26 from Chuckles and double figure contributions from Neil Clark and Darkie carried us to victory by the narrowest of margins. The saviour of the day proved to be Sumo, who roared .in just as our final partnership was about to be broken, to accompany Mark in attaining the required runs.
Pen Pics
J.B. -Laughed his way to career best 26
P.B. -Got some stick for a dropped catch and sulked
N.P. -Somewhat expensive in three overs but made two breakthroughs
NC -Solid display with the bat and another catch
C.W. -Seasons best of two runs and a very tight (like his trousers) spell with the ball without the reward of wickets.
S.G. -Wreaked havoc in the middle order with his floaty swingers
MP – Hit the winning runs with a big six
D.M. -Only got one run, which must have been worth the admission fee
N.M. - Dramatic intervention to save the day
J.H. -Still looking for his fishing book
