Match Report

A win at last !!
Against opposition that would little trouble the likes of Brasted Invicta, we owed much of our total to a swashbuckling knock from Tedious Moyse and a swift 25 from moody Paine, who together accumulated a record eighth wicket partnership of 45. All in all it was yet another lack-lustre batting display from a team teetering on the brink of awfulness. Fortunately for us the oppo were rank bad and our modest total of 167 obviously seemed like a mountain for them to climb. The skip and Nigel set about the dismantlement, removing the first four batsmen for only ten runs. Then when the skip turned off the heat, there was no reprieve for the beleaguered Parkers, as Si, Mark Smale and Sumo collected scalps, albeit a little expensively in Neil’s case. Being the charitable side we are, we resisted the impulse to skittle the oppo for a measly total and allowed them to complete the full 40 overs. In doing so they amassed 123-8 and finished only 43 runs short. Most of the Parkers naffed off to drink a fifty jug, without even inviting Neil and Jim who conceded the majority of the runs. The usual select crowd finished the evening in the Bull.
