Match Report

Can it get any worse?
Surely some team would have to take the backlash from out two consecutive defeats, but we made damn sure it would not be Citibank. Even the return of Juggler Schultz could not prevent another display of alarming ineptitude from the batting line-up, as we slumped to yet another humiliating defeat. Once again we gained the early initiative through good bowling from Daz, but let too many good chances go to ground. A score of about a hundred would have been realistic but instead we faced 149 to win, after allowing the oppo a late order rally they little deserved. Spud and Mark -with new bats- ensured we got no better start than last week and from then on it was a downward spiral to another disastrous total. A mediocre bowling attack took only 23 overs to winkle out our vast array of talent, with only Neil, Darren and free scoring Mr Xtras getting into double figures. Not even a spark of encouragement was contained in a final total of 67 and no improvement seems likely, unless we learn to occupy the crease for a longer period and accumulate runs, rather than trying to hit every ball out of the ground regardless of its merit.
Whale -Bowled behind his legs – there’s a new one
Schultz -Took a splendid catch then carried on where he left off last year.
Paine -Why oh why oh why. Another duck
Clements -Seemed in a hurry to get out
Moyse -Lasted the longest - an astonishing 23 deliveries
May -Got set for a big innings and then got out
Morrison -Top scorer for the second time this season with all of 13
Smale -Improved his average with a not out
Henderson -Unfortunate not to pick up more wickets but did register first runs for the club
Chapman K -Too laid back to worry about the result or his duck
Gibson K Not singing enough for my liking
