Match Report
What happened next-?
Depleted by the absence of two silly no-hoper Palace fans, queuing to see their teams annihilation in the cup final, we were able to field only nine men plus Andy Paul. After winning the toss and electing to bat, only Neil and Jim could take advantage of what was presumably the same nobby bowling as last year. Big six Jim obviously found the tax boundary ropes just too far, as he accumulated all his twenty-eight runs in fours. The mainstay was provided by Neil who reached a maiden fifty and with the help of Ian and Mark carried the total to 151 at the close. At the restart, lack of penetration from the opening attack allied with large gaps in an overstretched field, made the visitor’s task of victory notably easier. Eventually defeat was succumbed to with three overs remaining and six wickets in hand.
