Match Report
All the action
With Crusher Morrison in charge all except Noskin arrived on time. The skip had not partaken in liquid refreshment at lunchtime for the first time in living memory and had to negotiate the extremely funny Brasted skippers jolly humour, before winning the toss and electing to bat.
Not for the first time a solid opening foundation was missed, as Geoff gave a sharp chance to second slip. After Spud was out the game developed into a bit of a bore, with Daz 'gosh another 50 at Brasted' Moyse and Glenn sharing in a century stand.Eventually someone bowled a ball vaguely near the stumps and we were able to help their bowling analyses with some wild slogging that took our final score to 195 for 8 from 37 overs. Almost the entire tea interval was taken up by trying to tame the scorebook leaving the skip wondering whose idea this newfangled book was. With such a wide array of bowling talent available to him, the skip eventually plumped for the combination of Nigel's fiery pace and the more subtle swinging seamers of Talltrees McMahon. Against this unrelenting onslaught the oppo were soon in desperate trouble and only when Glenn finally took his sweater did they show any signs of making a respectable score. Neil M and Simon took over, with Si in particular keeping a very tight line. Neil failed to reproduce last years figures and the game petered towards its close with wickets falling regularly as the Brasted tail embarked on a mission of self-destruction. Glen finally wrapped up the tail through a fine catch at the wicket as Brasted ended on 124 all out from 35 overs.
