Match Report
Tuesday 8 July –v- Greenwich Healthcare at Eltham Park South
After weather threatened to prevent our first game at Eltham Park South, we were greeted by a rabble that made last week’s opposition seem organised. Spud won the toss and conscious of the storm clouds that were gathering and the very green pitch, elected to bowl first; his mind was also firmly focused on early doors at the Rising Sun. Danglers and Jim wreaked havoc, utilising both the poor pitch and light, with Moysey particularly potent against a wooded backdrop. After taking two wickets, including that of an 8 year old, which should surely have been destined for the skip, Darren made way for the loop of Gord. Despite acrobatically avoiding a caught and bowled chance, Gord was still able to pick up two wickets and the rout was completed by Darkie, Timmo and Rhino; Glen’s little seen left armers accounted for one bemused Healthcare bat, who stepped back onto his stumps and then had to be told that his innings was over.
The response was comprehensive, with Sumo axing some quick runs, Chris (0) continuing the high bat lift experiment (obviously working) and Spud and Moysey completing the job inside 9 overs.
