Match Report

LANCE TODD TROPHY JULY 22ND 1990 AT WOOLWICH MILITARY ACADEMY

A depleted but classy looking eleven assembled at Woolwich in an attempt to further furnish the club trophy room i.e. Spuds front room. Several sides withdrew after hearing of our entry and we found ourselves at the Semis without so much of a leg glance. The skip lost the toss, but Price Waterhouse kindly elected to field and we were treated to the antics of Gordon 'Play and Miss' Schultz and Boycott Behan attempting to bat out ten overs for as few runs as possible. Nigel finally got himself out to allow Limp to give the inning the necessary impetus. Glen pointed out to Gordon that this was not the first morning of a test match and the runs started to mount, at last. With Softy trying to take out windscreens and Duckie doing his best to get run out, the final score reached 86-3, With such a vast array of bowling talent at his disposal, the skip was in a quandary, eventually electing to kill the game with speed merchants Timms and Moyse. Energetic work in the field and relentless accuracy from all who bowled limited PW to only 41,despite having wickets in hand at the close. Pick of the bowlers to no one’s surprise - Kevin Gibson 1-2.
